How we use your personal data

Information that you voluntarily provide. By registering as a user of this service you agree that your personal data may be used by the service provider for the purposes of periodic contact (where you have consented during registration) or for the purposes of market research.

We collect data you have provided while contacting us, especially using the contact, download, or signup forms on our website. We collect data that you have sent to us through an online survey, event attendance application, or 3rd party hosted sign-up form (Facebook, Twitter, Linked In).

You also agree that the service provider may retrieve information regarding your activity on this and other services under its control and ownership – or where you have used your username and password for access – for the purpose of creating a user activity profile (UAP), regardless of whether that UAP is personally identifiable or not.

The service provider may retrieve anonymous information regarding your activity on this and other services – for the purpose of creating a user activity profile (UAP). The UAP may be anonymised, for example it could be defined as the UAP for “a user thought to be a cardiologist based in the Estonia” or it could be personally identifiable, including your name, profession, license number, location, content preferences, browsing behaviour profile and other pertinent information as supplied by you.

Regardless of whether the UAP is anonymous or not, the service provider will primarily use the information contained within the UAP to better serve your content needs as part of this and related services.

The service provider may also provide access to your UAP to our subsidiaries and affiliates, and also to 3rd party organisations (including but not limited to pharmaceutical, medical device and other health information companies) for the purposes of market research, clinical trials, studies/promotional or email marketing activity. Such activities are usually infrequent and tailored to reflect your areas of interest based on your UAP.

Your personal contact information (name and email address) will never be passed to these organisations unless you expressly agree separately over and above our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.

Web Server logs. Like the vast majority of service providers, we automatically gather web server log information – including your browsing behaviour – when you access one of our services.

This information is collected by the computer that hosts our website (called a "web server"). The web server automatically recognises some non-personal information, such as your IP Address, the date and time you accessed the service, the pages you visited, where you came from (e.g. Google), the type of browser you are using (e.g. Internet Explorer), the type of operating system (e.g. Windows 10) you are using, and the domain name and address of your Internet Service Provider. If our site is using cookies (discussed below), the web server will also collect this information.

We also use third party analytics service providers including (but not limited to) Google Analytics. In the same way that we directly collect information about users accessing this service, Google Analytics will – via javascript code inserted in our web pages – obtain, process and analyse similar information about our users.

We often review the server logs and Google Analytics to see which pages are being visited and get a better understanding of how the service is being used by our visitors. We report the performance of those pages (anonymised) to our customers. This allows us to maintain and enhance our service. In addition, in cases of system abuse, we may use this information in conjunction with your Internet Service Provider and/or local authorities to trace the source of any such abuse.

IP Addresses. This website uses Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. An IP address is a number assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider so that you can access the Internet. Generally, an IP address changes each time you connect to the Internet (it is a "dynamic" address). Note, however, that if you have a broadband connection, depending on your individual circumstance, it is possible that your IP address that we collect, or even perhaps a cookie we use, may contain information that could be deemed identifiable. This is because with some broadband connections your IP address doesn't change (it is "static") and could be associated with your personal computer. IP addresses are used as part of the web server log information as stated above.
